Weapons of Warfare
Using the name of Jesus is just one of the weapons in our arsenal that God has provided for us. In Lesson #4, you will begin to discover those keys. Remember that God has provided us the name of Jesus to use in prayer, and it was the same name of Jesus that healed the lame beggar. A physical manifestation took place in a man’s body, doing what no modern doctor could do today. Some things in this life are impossible to complete or fix, without God’s help. Notice this in 2 Corinthians 10:3-4,
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.”
The KJV Bible uses the word, “strongholds.” Do you know what a stronghold is? It is a guarded place that you cannot enter. Likewise, it can also be a place that you cannot leave or escape. You may have strongholds in your life and not be aware of it. These strongholds keep you from your blessing.
A stronghold may make you feel like a failure for two reasons. 1) You cannot seem to achieve a level of success or personal health, and they appear to be escaping you. 2) You do not seem to be able to break bad habits, addictions, or have the stamina to finish something that you started. All these, and more, might be a result of spiritual strongholds. You cannot see them, but you know that there is something there hindering you in some way.
Now, the name of Jesus is just one of the giftings of power, that scripture provides to us as Christians. Many people turn to self-help programs to lose weight, or to stop smoking, or correct laziness or irritability. But all these, including bad health, may be difficult to correct, because they might be a result of spiritual strongholds. Notice in the scripture, “we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh”.
Some bad things in your life might be from family curses, caused by something that your ancestors did. Many battles we face are from spiritual sources, and some of those we have created ourselves. Bad timing, bad words, self-cursing, all come from our own mouth and actions. These can all be broken with the use of the weapons of the kingdom of heaven.
NEXT LESSON! – ALL ABOUT THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Our Prayer for today,
Father, teach me how to walk in the power of the kingdom. Show me how I can use Your spiritual weapons to break curses off my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
