The Kingdom of Heaven
How valuable are these gifts of power to you? There are two phrases that Jesus used in the New Testament, one was, “The Kingdom of God,” used 66 times; and the second was, “The Kingdom of Heaven”, used 32 times and only in the book of Matthew. Both phrases are identical in meaning. The kingdom of God or of Heaven, refers to the operation of God’s kingdom, here in this earth.
Matthew 10:7,
“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”
Matthew 13:44-46,
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
Jesus is teaching us the importance of discovering the spiritual realm and it’s operation. Think of God in this way; What kind of Father would God be, if He took us into His family, and did not give some of His privileges and His protections. A man locks his doors at night, to keep his family safe. That is his duty. God gives us weapons to use against the devil, protections that are greater than normal earthly protections. There are many different giftings in the operation of God’s kingdom, and it can take decades to discover them all.
Matthew 13:44,
“And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”
The way you should look at this power, is to become a disciple of it. Disciple defined: is a student of a discipline, or of a doctrine. Plan on being a life-long student of the operation of the kingdom of heaven. Like Jesus said, you will bring out old treasures, and find new ones in the process.
