OUR 29TH YEAR OF MINISTRY

Jesus Prophesied about Himself

Jesus tells a parable concerning Himself and our Father in heaven, as a landowner away on a long journey, and He concludes His story in Matthew 21:37-43 this way,

They said to Him, “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end, and will rent out the vineyard to other vine-growers who will pay him the proceeds at the proper seasons.”

Jesus said to them,

Jesus here quotes from Psalm 118:22-23 and Isaiah 28:16, predicting His rejection by His fellow Jews, by quoting prophecy.  All prophecy must come to pass, and Jesus realized His part in completing much of it.  Here He says three things that eventually came to pass:

  1. God the Father expected His Son to be respected, but instead, they killed Him.
  2. That the Gentiles will do more with the Gospel than Jesus’ own people.
  3. That the Gentiles will produce much in the way of spreading the Gospel.
