God is Three Persons
In Genesis 1:26-27 we read,
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
Those of you who have studied philosophy, know that writers borrowing from biblical wisdom, have written that the body is nailed to our spirit. The Bible goes into much more depth to explain many details on this subject of our body, being connected to our soul and spirit.
Notice this. 1 Thessalonians 5:23,
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
It’s clear that God made us, and according to the very first chapter in the Bible, He made us in His likeness and in His image. If we are in three parts, spirit, soul and body; then God who made us, must also be made up of three parts.
God’s three parts, we call Persons. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and we are also made in three parts, spirit, soul and body. Because we can understand our design, we can understand His design.
