The Holy Spirit is for Everyone
In Luke 11:9-13, Jesus gives us a parable, showing us to expect the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened. Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”
Notice, Jesus does not disqualify anyone from receiving the Holy Spirit. The only condition is first to accept Jesus into your heart. In John 14:16-19, Jesus confirms that point, and again tells us part of the importance of the ministry of the Holy Spirit,
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
The Holy Spirit is the continuation of the ministry of Jesus! Jesus went up to heaven. I have heard some people say, “Oh, I wish I was around in Jesus’ day to see Him and His works”. Well, the Holy Spirit continues Jesus’ earthly ministry for us today. Having the Holy Spirit allows us to have an intimate and personal relationship with all three Persons of God!
RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT RIGHT NOW
Are you ready to receive the Holy Spirit? Great. Above we read,
“For everyone who asks, receives…”
Let’s pray then:
“Father, I ask that you give me the Holy Spirit, from the top of my head to the soles of my feet, with all signs and wonders following, in Jesus’ name, amen!
Father, stir up this gift in me, and remind me of the importance of the Holy Spirit in my life daily.”
Congratulations! Now let’s learn more about the Holy Spirit!
