Confessing The Name
One of the greatest sources of power given to mankind is spiritual power. Spiritual power cannot be defeated by human means or strength. Also, spiritual power changes things in our natural realm.
John 16:23-24,
“In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.
“Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.”
There is power in using the names of things. If I say, “My dad is the President,” that would open doors for me. In heaven’s way of approaching things, the use of a name can bring a blessing or a curse. Think of it this way, when someone addresses you, do they use your name? When someone writes you a letter, do they use your name? When you’re waiting for a table at a busy restaurant, and they finally get to you, don’t they call out your name?
Jesus wants us to call on His name and use it. He gave hundreds of examples in the four Gospels telling us to do this. In Mark 16:17,
“These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues:”
We see that same command given in James 5:14-15,
“Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.”
His name is not ‘Lord,’ that’s His title, He is our Lord and Savior. His name is Jesus, or if you prefer, Yeshua. To use His name is a privilege and He makes it a strong recommendation. To not use His name, makes our walk with Him difficult as a Christian. We read in Romans 10:9,
“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;”
You must use the name of Jesus just to get saved!

Our Prayer for today: Father, thank You for revealing to me the power of the name of Jesus. Teach me how and when to use His name, for good and for blessing my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
